Fair Trade Post Card Campaign

Fair Trade Post Card Campaign is aiming at gathering the influential power of consumers and citizens and then driving Hong Kong in becoming a Fair Trade City. Over 10,000 people will be mobilized to write on the Post Card, and to express the wish to have Fair Trade in Hong Kong to the Supermarkets, Legco members and Secretariats of HKSAR.

Fair Trade – Value for money
Fair Trade can reduce the unfairness and exploitation of producer in the process of trading. The formation of cooperative association between farmers and workers enable them to have more bargaining power in the negotiation of a fairer price with buyer and to avoid large enterprise in rolling prices back. Bring about changes with ethical consumption, which is great value for money!

Food and beverages: Coffee, Chocolate, Fruit juice, Tea, Biscuits and cookies, Energy bar, Dried fruit, Ice-cream, Cereal products

*As of June 2011, there are over 1,000 Fair Trade Cities around the world. To become a Fair Trade City, the following criteria have to be satisfied:
(i)    Local council passes a resolution supporting Fairtrade, and agrees to serve Fairtrade products.
(ii)   A range of Fairtrade products are available locally
(iii) Schools, workplaces, places of worship and community organizations support Fairtrade and use Fairtrade products whenever possible
(iv) Media coverage and events raise awareness and understanding of Fairtrade across the community.
(v)   A Fairtrade steering group representing different sectors is formed to co-ordinate action around the goals and develop them over the years. Council’s adoption the motion of the support and the use of Fair Trade Products
