ECF Fairness under the Sun
“ECF Fairness under the Sun” is an environmental education programme funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund of the HKSAR Government and organized by Fair Trade Hong Kong. The programme aims to raise public awareness and support for renewable energy development and carbon mitigation. 40 student ambassadors will guide community tours of showcasing solar power facilities and deliver educational workshops in secondary schools after receiving related training.
40 tertiary student ambassadors will receive training in topics such as climate change, renewable energy and fair carbon offsetting, from experts of green groups, academics, consultants, engineers and representatives of local grassroots organizations. There are 8 training in total, 2 hours each, and participants are required to attain an attendance rate of 80% or above. Afterward, students will guide community tours of showcasing solar power facilities and deliver educational workshops in secondary schools.

First Round Date: Dec 2018 – Feb 2019; Second Round Date: Sep – Nov 2019
First Round Date: Apr – May 2019 (Saturdays); Second Round Date: Dec 2019 – Feb 2020 (Saturdays)
The second round of application will start in September 2019.
Through visiting different solar power facilities, including the latest floating photovoltaic systems launched by the HKSAR government, participants will be able to explore the local solar power development directly. The application of community tours is open to the public, including resident representatives, primary and secondary school students, and grassroots organizations. The tour is free of charge.

Secondary School Workshops
Through engaging in role-playing workshops about the implementation of solar power systems and the transaction of renewable energy certificates, students can gain a deeper understanding of the importance of different stakeholders in the carbon mitigation process and the fairness issue involved. The fee for each workshop is HK$500.
