In order to improve students understanding about Fair Trade, our organization organizes varies educational events, including: School Talk, Exhibition, Tour, Auction and Workshop, in hopes that student can learn about Fair Trade in an interactive, fun and relaxing way. Additionally, upon completion of these activities, we hope student can have a grasp of complicated ideas such as Globalization, Sustainable Development, Gender Equality and Corporate Social Responsibilities. All events are open for registration.

Topic: Fair Trade & Globalization 

Our staff will be sent to your school to introduce Fair Trade and its importance. The thematic talk will address how the livelihood of farmers are affected by Multi-National Corporations under globalization and how Fair Trade improves the quality of life of producers, driving students to become responsible consumers.

Duration: 45 minutes

Minimum Participants: 20

Fees: $800

 

Topic: What am I wearing?

In India, a farmer commits suicide every 30 minutes, and majority of them are grow Genetic Modified Organisms(GMOs). Students will understand the hardships of cotton farmers and garment works brought by fast fashion and how Fair Trade empowers the producers.

Duration: 45 minutes

Minimum Participants: 20

Fees: $800

(1) Coffee Ground Workshop

The workshop introduces stories of coffee production and discusses how Fair Trade helps reconstruct a sustainable coffee industry. Students can then understand the development of global coffee trade while using coffee grounds to make their own body scrub.

(2) Blind Tasting Workshop

While having a piece of delicate Fair Trade dark chocolate, students can understand the ‘dark side’ of chocolate industry, such as child labour, and see how Fair Trade responds to these problems.

(3) Football and Fair Trade

Students will be taught the basics of freestyle football, while knowing more about the unfairness behind football production and child labour problem. This leads to the understanding of how Fair Trade can improve the livelihood, working environment and social development of producers.

(1) Orange Game

By role playing as small-scale orange farmers, participants will experience the dilemmas faced by farmers in developing countries so as to understand why they often fall prey to hunger. Post activity reflection will also bolster students’ understanding of fair trade and how fair trade cooperatives empower farmers.

(2) Sweat Factory

Role playing as smartphone factory workers, participants will experience the grueling environment and long working hours that workers are enduring on a daily basis. Post activity reflection will bolster students’ understanding of fair trade and the rights entitled to producers

 (3) Chocolate Conference

Students will play different roles during the simulation, such as business owners, cocoa producers and buyers to experience the power struggles of different stakeholders, making them realise the need for fair pricing.
